Link to State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli audit of ECC

Dear fellow members:

Below is the link to the State Comptroller's audit of ECC's financial and governance operations.

If you have not yet read this document, we hope you will take the time to review it. We believe it is very important for all stakeholders, including faculty, to discuss and address the issues raised by the audit. We need your input so that when we are at the table we can raise your concerns. The criticisms contained in this document could affect all aspects of our college, including decisions that students make about attending ECC.

We view this audit as an opportunity to change the direction of our college from one of passivity and cynicism to one of advocacy and quality services for our students. We are very concerned about the issues raised in this document. Erie Community College is a significant public trust and responsibility, and the audit finds evidence that this responsibility has not been taken seriously by people who have been entrusted with ECC's governance and management by the citizens and taxpayers of Erie County.

We want to make sure that our members have the opportunity to read the audit and come to our campus forums prepared to discuss it.

We finally have a contract, and we will continue to advocate with state and county governments for funding for ECC consistent with New York State law, but the struggle to save ECC must continue.

In solidarity,

Andrew Sako, President Patricia Kaiser, VP City Adrian R. Ranic, VP North Michael Higgins, VP South Denise Crowden, Secretary Kristin Kozlowski, Treasurer Michael Delaney, Grievance Chair
